Finding Amy winterTitle: Finding Amy

Author: Carol Braswell

Genre: Romantic Suspense

What begins in Montana as routine for Texas Ranger Carson Garrett, quickly turns into a ‘run for your life’ chase in order to protect the two women and child he is returning to Texas.

How far would you go to protect the ones you love?

When Texas Ranger, Carson Garrett is assigned to locate and place in protective custody the wife of a man suspected of illegal activities with a Columbian drug lord, it turns into more than routine. The estranged husband has put out a hit on his wife and the only person who knows where she is hiding is her twin sister, Amy Summers.

Protecting the sister she loves may be the thing that destroys her…

It is a race against time for Carson to find Amy, convenience her of the imminent danger and get her to lead him to Jamie so he can escort both women and Jamie’s four-year-old child back to Texas.

Even if they make it can love on the run survive?

Besides the obvious problems of running from a man who is trying to kill them, Carson and Amy have an instant attraction to each other and it is clouding his usual sharp judgment and causing them both to make costly mistakes.

A determined hitman, a diabolical plan. There is only one way to stop them both…

Romance and suspense mix and mingle in this delightful, action-packed, tense read. Carson Garrett is a Texas Ranger, which is instant win for me, since I’m a huge fan of the old Texas Ranger show, and ever since, love reading books featuring these rangers. Anyway, back to the plot.  Carson has to locate the wife of a man suspected of illegal activities with a Columbian drug lord, and put her in protective custody. The only one who knows the woman’s whereabouts is her twin sister, Amy. So Carson has to find Amy, convince her to lead him to her twin sister Jamie, and then escort both women and Jamie’s child back to Texas. But a hitman is on Amy’s heels to uncover where Jamie is hiding. When the attraction between Carson and Amy grows, it starts to cloud his judgement, and he begins to make mistakes that may cost him dear…

I really liked the hitman-plot in this one. So the idea may be a bit cliché, but the way it’s executed here, is spot on. It reads like something fresh, new. Amy is a delightful character to read about, and her interactions with Carson are playful and flirtatious and put a smile to my face. With the suspense plot running in the background – as in, the hitman on their track – there’s more to this book than just the romance. There were moments where it got pretty close, and I was at the edge of my seat!

If you like romantic suspense, definitely give Finding Amy a shot. It’s a well-written book, with great characters and a pleasant, suspenseful plot.
